Gold Mining in America
Gold is one of the most precious metals that we have found in the world. Most of the world’s gold has been mined in America. With the California Gold Rush being one of the most well known gold related events in American history. During this time hundreds of people were involved in the mining of gold and entire networks were set up to enable the gold to be found in much larger scales.
Water infrastructures were incredibly important in finding gold as it is heavier than rock so the gold nuggets would sink to the bottom of the channels so that it could then be taken out, this was known as sluicing. The work that was carried out was very labour intensive anr required a lot of strength.
