Which cars have drivers voted 2018’s best?
80,000 drivers take part every year in a survey held by Auto Express to find the best cars. Driver Power is the number one car customer satisfaction survey, where owners rate their own cars over 31 subject areas in nine different categories. Everything is covered from small city cars to large premium SUVs.
Winner
The overall winning car was the Peugeot 3008, scoring a remarkable 93.88%. Owners were thrilled with its good looks, superb interior quality, reliability and low running costs, making it the number one owners’ car.
The Toyota Aygo was voted the best city car for the second time, scoring well for good looks and reliability.
The best supermini was the Nissan Micra, scoring highly on ride and handling.
The Audi A1 was voted the best premium small car, with in-car technology and practicality winning over its rivals.
Toyota came through again, winning the best family compact car, with the Toyota Prius retaining the title of king of the hybrids.
The Mazda 6 surprisingly won the best family car due to practicality over its rivals Mondeo and Insignia.
Another Toyota, this time the best MPV, was the Toyota Verso, and again, practicality was its winning feature.

Moving on to the SUV’s, the Kia Niro was voted the best small SUV due to the good quality interior and cheap running costs.
The best mid-sized SUV was the Peugeot 3008 which went on to be the overall winner.
Best large SUV was the Kia Sorento, scoring highly for technology, space and quality.
Lexus came into its own winning the next two categories, the best premium mid-sized SUV – Lexus NX and best premium large SUV – Lexus RX. With impeccable quality, spacious interiors, reliability and unique exterior design, this was no surprise.
Moving to the higher market, the best compact executive car was the Alfa Romeo Giulia with good handling and fantastic looks.
BMW won the best executive car with the BMW 5 series and best sports car with the BMW 2 series.
The best electric car was the Nissan Leaf, with super low running costs and finally, the best Roadster was the Mazda MX5.
