Simple steps to order new business signs. Miss a single step before ordering new signs and you could end up paying for them twice.
Measure the Space On-Site
Physical Measurements of the Space Where the Sign is to be Affixed. The place where your new sign is to be fixed needs to be measured out in person. All walls and surfaces where the sign is to be affixed need to be checked for any obstructions such as light switches, picture hooks etc. Two measurements need to be taken for each wall and these need to be recorded.
Supply Artwork at the Right Resolution
Need to supply artwork? Typically we require artwork to be supplied in vector format (e.g. Adobe Illustrator) or high resolution images (300 dpi minimum) at the final print size. Don’t pull the logo from your website as these images are unlikely to be high enough resolution to produce good quality signs.
Check Your Brand Assets Are Legally Clear
Before putting your logo on anything public-facing (e.g. signage), confirm that you have the necessary rights to use it. The trade mark rules for business names and logos set out what protection applies and what to watch for.
Ask About the Environment
Bear in mind that a material that looks good indoors may warp or fade rapidly outside. Specify the environment in which your sign will reside (exposed to the elements, sheltered, near the coast, etc.) and allow your supplier to recommend the most suitable material and finish for the signs.
Confirm Lead Times and Proof Stages
Note: Delivery slots are extremely popular during busy trading periods so be sure to ask for production time & proof stages for your new signs. There is more on Signage Exeter at https://exeter.nettl.com/signs/.
By taking a few minutes to do some groundwork before ordering your new business signs, you can save yourself a lot of trouble later!
